“We just want the right to marry like everyone else”. At the time, it was astutely pointed out by many that they already had that right, what they were really wanting was an “extra” right. Those that wanted to appease the Big Gay Lobby could have done so without kicking religion in the teeth. The right to marry was a bigger win than affording these people community property rights and tax benefits. It was taking a Biblical concept and turning it on its head in a way that mocked religion - as if to say that nothing you believe in is safe from our reach. That reach has now extended to our children.
