Consumer goods and services cost Americans 6.4 percent more than a year prior in February, the latest data from the U.S. government showed on Thursday.

The personal consumption expenditure price index rose by more than expected and indicated that inflation accelerated from the six percent annual rate in January. This was the fastest rate of price increases since 1982.

“The personal consumption expenditure price index rose by more than expected”

If you have been to a gas station, grocery store, Home Depot or hospital lately you “expected” the rate to be double this latest under representation of the true rate of inflation. When does this “transitory” inflation end and hyper inflation begin?

Exactly. The only thing that will offset these rapidly rising prices is rapidly rising wages. And we all know THAT’S not happening.

All by demoncrap design

I asked a local, young guy, yesterday how much per hour he'd charge to rake my leaves....I was thinking a maximum of $15.00 per hour. He said nothing less than $25.00 an hour.

I guess I'll be raking leaves even if it takes me all summer.

Anyone who believes the government numbers is a fool. 6.7% my arse. At least 50% for daily staples.

Your story is exactly what happened during the Jimmah Carter years.

Everybody got a lot more self-reliant in a hurry....

Did you check the packaging for shrinkflation? Even “Dollartree” raised everything 25% but now their packages are smaller, Some of the cleaning supplies I got there are over 200% higher with the package being half the size. As an aside. Goat food doubled a couple weeks ago. I am not looking forward to this season’s hay bill.

There was a thread yesterday about people trying generic products to replace name brands.

In most cases the generic products will meet your needs—always worth a try during inflationary times.

I use a slightly different method of calculation of inflation at the check-out counter but get the same result you did.

This time two years ago, I spent $100 at the supermarket and put 6 bags of groceries in the back of my SUV. Last year, the same $100 put 5 bags in the trunk.

Last week, $100 bought me three bags of my usual stuff.

That’s inflation.

Yes, and they are just the openly admitted inflation. Stagflation has added 1t least 25% to that over the past 12-18 months. So, we are now paying 40% more for groceries than we did a year ago. New cars have increased by 12%. Used cars have increased by 46%. Homes have increased by over 100%.

An article today stated that the average family will shell out an extra $5k per year based on the current prices of things because of Bidenflation.

You would have to be a moron, idiot, or imbecile to vote for Joe Biden or any Democrat.

Oh! did you notice that congress has snuck into a recent bill a raise for themselves. The old truth that the number one priority of nearly all politicians is self is still in vogue.
