“All war is based on deception.”

What’s the first casualty in war?
Kiev means nothing. East Ukraine is everything to Putin. Occupy the East from the border to the Dnieper, and you create a formidable barrier to NATO ground forces.
The Rooskies need to turn over all their equipment to the Ukes and walk back to Belarus.
I dug out some old map of Ukraine.
I tried to mark the Russian “gains’ on it. I was amazed how little the Russians really gained.
The maps on Fox News mark these areas Red. And Red is a dominating color, optically, it makes the red areas look bigger then they really are.
When you just mark the “front lines” without coloring them, Russians have really very little to show for their efforts!
It looks like both sides are saying that the Rukes are withdrawing from Kiev.
This is good news for the Ukes. It lends credibility to the other things folks are saying that the Ukes are in a counter-offensive and doing better than just getting ground up in a meatgrinder.
Full peace in Eastern Ukraine will never exist until there is a victor on the battlefield.
This is why Russia move in the first place....
I’d continue an offensive against the Russian troops until there are clear signs they are withdrawing in all areas not just Kyev.
And given that the Russians shelled civilians trying to leave cities after safe corridors were negotiated, I wouldn’t be terribly upset if Ukraine shelled the Russians as they were leaving.
It might not be the high road, but it would be fair play.
