As part of the agreement between New York state, Erie County and the NFL's Buffalo Bills franchise, Hochul advanced a $600 million proposal from the state budget. Erie County will provide $250 million and the NFL and Bills will provide a combined $550 million to build a $1.4 billion new stadium, the governor's announcement said.
the project will create 10,000 union jobs and New Yorkers can rest assured that their investment will be recouped by the economic activity the team generates," she added.
The $850 million in pledged taxpayer money is the largest public contribution toward any NFL stadium.

Bad for erie county. Just like the auditorium in downtown Albany plagued the Albany County taxpayers for DECADES. Even when it turned “profitable” it never can close to being a decent investment. These things are White elephants, I hope Hochul loses over this travesty of budgeting peoples moneys.
Buffalo is a short drive from Toronto, a far more attractive market. Unless the Canadian Football League has a way of blocking the NFL from entering Canada, the new stadium may be a way of keeping the team in New York.
How about property tax relief?

Bills get a free stadium, and taxpayers get screwed.
Crazy. Although Buffalo has nothing else. The liberals around Massachusetts dislike Robert Craft (billionaire, friends with trump, gets away with getting handles from Asian prostitutes, etc.)
But he built the Pats into a multi-billion dollar franchise without public money. All private. A few years ago he caught some crap because the state was going to spend a few million to build a pedestrian bridge over the main road that leads to the stadium. The beautiful people were up in arms saying a billionaire should not get that money. Meanwhile that year he donated over $50 million to Massachusetts hospitals. Also, the taxes generated for the state by his empire is in the hundreds of millions. They’ll take that money all day. But have the highway department build a bridge?! No way!
That was my first thought, too. There was talk some time ago about a Toronto franchise and Buffalo was up in arms about it.
Interesting that a lot of Buffalo’s fan base lives in Canada, and won’t be subject to the taxes.
Governments are awash in money and taxing/borrowing power.
We should go to a 10% flat tax and reign government spending in as well as enforce balanced budgets.
