I think that would be a bridge too far for the whole world.
People would never forget, and Russia would remain a pariah for a generation or more.
A lot of what Putin does and says is made for domestic consumption as well as his standing in the world. A lot of what he portrays about himself is done for consumption by Christians and traditionalists inside and outside of Russia.
He would utterly destroy that image.
Zelensky needs an event that will shock the world and pull in NATO to save his bacon. He’s banking that Russia will blink and not use Nukes etc... (What would happen if Putin used ten vacuum Bombs like we used on the Taliban Caves on Kiev?) He is a gambler and he has a weak hand—he’s got two duces and trying to draw an inside strait. He will be lucky to get out of this with his skin. He will be blamed for this mess and be toppled from power (like Churchill was after WW II).
