I lived under an honor code similar to theirs for four years. It was unambiguous. It was spelled out, clearly. The punishments were handed out as explained.

A cadet doesn’t lie, cheat, steal or participate in collective action.

Pretty simple.

I knew a first semester senior who was booted in an hour for stealing a freakin small tube of toothpaste from the school store. But…stealing had one punishment: Permanent explusion.

My friend said that in the early 1950’s a cadet had to write “Certified” in the upper corner of anything turned in. It meant that the cadet was certifying that it was his/her work and only his/her work.
