Russia has lost another of its generals in the war in Ukraine, Kyiv military sources said, as Ukraine inflicts punishing losses on Moscow's war machine.
Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev, 48, commander of the army's 49th combined arms division, became the fifth general to be killed after being taken out in a strike by the Ukrainian armed forces, sources in Kyiv said.
Rezantsev, who bragged on just the fourth day of the war that it would be over in a matter of hours, was apparently killed after the Ukrainian army destroyed the commanding post of the 49th Russian Army in southern Ukraine.

A key reason that the Nazi army and their allies made such dramatic gains in the early weeks of the invasion is because it was their A Team against the Red Army's B Team of field leadership or worse.
The key reason that the Red Army was down to their B Team or worse is because Stalin had either liquidated or exiled most of the A Team to Siberia because he suspected their loyalty. This included a trainload or more of officers who were on their way there when the surprise attack happened.
Thanks Vigilanteman -
Grampa Dave also weighted in on this obscure event... the largest invasion in history.
Putin’s dictator mentality seems similar to Stalin’s in that few talented officers would choose to stand up to his ideas even if those ideas are way off base.
For comparison, is there any reporting on how many Ukrainian Generals have been killed?
FR Putin Puffers are going into shock! lol
They are called Putin Puffers. They worship Putin.
He likes to throw words about as his troops slaughter women and children.
Need more sunflower seeds.
I thought your descriptions of the Russian army and its generals might be credible until you threw in that FAG insult. Adios MF. I guess you can now be added to the list of Putin trolls at FR. See you joined FR Oct. 2014. Was this about the time Putin started perfecting his plans to invade Crimea???
Sympathizers? See comments 15 and 7.
Putin is obviously unaware that here at FR, progressives are considered good Communist fellow-travelers. He is just jealous he doesn’t have Harry Potter’s magic skills.
In June 1941, Hitler decided to cancel the 10 year non-aggression pact with Stalin and invaded. Stalin decided he needed his fired Russian officers to fight the Germans, not rotting in Siberia.

Thanks - yes, I understand now that somehow I ‘missed’ the largest invasion in the History of the world and many important World War II facts...
I’m also impressed by the kindness of fellow freepers who sent links rather an commenting with things like “ROTFLMAO” etc. etc. etc.
