Omicron was killing 3000+ each day in the US in early Feb. Ancient history.
One might 1500+ from this new strain, maybe worse because more and more vax, and recovered immunity, has aged many months from last year. UK daily death count reached 250 today, with an Omicron high of about 290. Not down much for them. So 1500 is likely a low number.
The virus doesn’t care if you’re done with it.
I think that the turnaround (BA.2 variant new cases began increasing in amounts greater than the total decreases of amounts of new cases of the other Omicron variants) happened this past weekend nationally. I suspect the new total daily COVID cases will now begin a new (hopefully small and short in duration) wave now.

Had it here in Australia. Daily infections doubled. Hospitalisations did not go up.
