I’m sure that Ukrainians fully support the efforts of their Russian liberators.

There is an explanation, if you are willing to listen. There is a significant portion of the population that has no problem with Putin taking control. They have had a truly corrupt government for over twenty years and see Putin as the devil they understand. His level of corruption is far less than the previous Ukrainian government.

There are plenty of patriotic Ukrainians who will fight to the death against the Russians, but they are now locked down in the cities and have little hope. They can either surrender or be on the receiving end of Soviet style carpet bombing by artillery, the favorite tactic of Russian generals and despots.

Do I support or even like Putin? No, he is a psychotic madman who had no need for the invasion. His generals lied to him and are beginning to suffer their just desserts for those lies. His worldview is corrupt and his morals stink. But he has enough fire power to win, and will.

Thanks for presenting a fair assessment of the situation in Ukraine. I also think that Putin will probably “win”, but the price will be high, and Ukraine won’t be any closer to Valhalla.

“They can either surrender or be on the receiving end of Soviet style carpet bombing by artillery, the favorite tactic of Russian generals and despots.”

With the lack of serious Russian logistics in this operation, I wonder how long it will take to move the mountain of arty rounds that it will take?
