Morale is so low among invading Russian forces that soldiers have reportedly been shooting themselves in the legs to avoid fighting – using Ukrainian ammunition to make it appear they were hit by the defenders.

Even if they are not flush with armor and artillery, a one million man army has got to be hard to push back. Once the Ukrainians had committed to defending major cities maybe the Russians would have been wise to bypass those cities and trap the Ukrainians forces in them?

Maybe focus instead on securing as many crossing over the Dnieper as possible while taking possession of as much infrastructure (dams, power plants, farms) as possible? Cut off the food, water, and utilities and let the million riflemen of the Ukrainian army starve in the dark?
