Actually Ukraine is a pretty existential concern for Mother Russia. The farmland of the Ukes provides something like 80% of the grain Russia imports. Pooty would definitely like to control that production. The grain has long been available tho, without destroying everything else to get it.

It wouldn’t matter if Z was as dirty as Hunter and Slow Joe Biden. Putin has no valid reason to invade Ukraine and try to steal the country’s land and wealth.

The same can be said, Ukraine is calling for foreigners also, as for losses, the Ukies have no Air Firce left, little armor, dwindling soldiers, are begging for a no fly zone, arms, ammunition, and resorted to arming citizens- last I saw, the eastern side of Ukraine is turning to a pile of rubble. Sorry folks, Vlad is winning, and the west is going berserk.
There is a lot of information available due to the ability to see images and video from participants in the war. Also, Russian newspapers and their websites report on funerals.
If you take the time, use google translate, and look at local sources you can gather information on what is happening.

That’s actually not a particularly high death toll. 100,000 dead out of 23m people was under 0.4%. During the War of Independence, the Patriot cause cost 50,000 KIA at a time when the population was 3m people. That’s 1.6% or 4x as much on a population adjusted basis. If Ukraine lost 200,000 dead while killing 100,000 Russians, that would only be comparable to Polish losses a century ago on a per capita basis. For Poland, that period of peace lasted until Russia allied with Germany to start WWII.
