I was a boy when the Soviet Union was still around, but I still remember the fear of what the Soviets were going to do next.
Does anyone think that the return of the Soviet Union will not affect the United States?? That they will peacefully co-exist with another super power. That would be very naive.

You’re right. It’s very scary huh. I’ve been typing my replies from my crawlspace under my house because my b-hole won’t quit puckering since Putin says he put his super duper state-of-the-art-not-aging nukes on high alert.
When we come to a head against China or Iran and they say they’ve put their nukes on high alert I really really hope our government capitulates to them too.
The Russian regions of the Donbas and Crimea don't want to be a part of Ukraine. They're asking for nothing more than Kosovo asked for when they didn't want to be a part of Serbia. And NATO delivered independence to non-NATO Kosovo by dropping bombs on Serbia, a nation who had never attacked a NATO country.
We established a standard that the Russians are now following.

If everything from all media outlets on any side is propaganda and lies, then why are so many Freepers basing their holier-than-thou knowledge on things they read in the media prior to the Ukraine invasion?
It seems odd that the last 22 days ALL media is suspect but before then, SOME media was alright.
All these Putin Puffers on here professing conspiracies based on other media accounts (prior to the Ukraine invasion) and everyone just goes along with it like it’s not deceptive or hypocritical.

Very simple - because the media didn’t hadn’t picked a side at that point, and instead reported on the corruption and Nazism going on in Ukraine. Now we’re told that never happened.

Yup. Targeting civilians to force capitulation has been a time-honored practice throughout history, and thus it is not uncommon. However, there are some folks on FR that act appalled that Russia may resort to such tactics, when its history is replete with instances of just that. So is ours (think: William Tecumseh Sherman, just to name one).
