Small wonder the rank and file have no enthusiasm for this pointless war. I'm surprised the Russian troops aren't refusing to leave their barracks.

Ukrainians are reporting some officers and NCOs in units that fought and were withdrawn to refit are refusing to go back, mainly do to lack of logistics (food, fuel) and no command guidance. The Ukrainians have had very good intel on Russian communications, so this may not be just propaganda.

Doubtless, those troops don't want to risk being called traitors and shot on the spot if they refuse to fight.

The Vietnam War was not popular, but around 99.99% of of drafted young American men in Vietnam followed the orders given.
