They not only want Ukraine to be “neutral” Russia wants Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, and Ukraine has to disarm.
This is to “stop the fighting” Not a Russian withdrawal. Even if they withdrew, after you disarm and disavow the West, you belong to Russia.

Cultural affinity means they have a history of settlement there or it was actually part of their territory at one time. Neither of which applies to Germany. The more ideologically driven Soviet era types might have had reason to ie spread the faith, but modern Russia doesn’t. Ukraine is another matter though. I’m not saying its a correct thing to have done or do. Just stating the fact. Crimea was part of Russia befor a Ukrainian nation existed. It is majority Russian. Russias claims are pretty strong. Much stronger than U.S having Alaska or Hawaii as states.

No. We won’t fight Russia directly. We will broker the bad peace treaty, then lift the sanctions, so Biden can claim victory right before the midterms. Meanwhile Putin will have won, Ukraine will be part of the Union again, and so will have Iran with our nuclear deal, brokered by Putin. It will be Denete all over again, and CNN and MSDNC will be telling NPCs that Russia is our friend again.
