Why record-high gas prices won't be solved by drilling more oil in the US

(CNN)As US oil and gasoline prices skyrocket, politicians in both parties have called for a seemingly easy solution: Drill our way out of the problem to ease prices at the pump and supply additional energy to Europe.

"The president must end his war on American energy," Republican Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming said in a recent statement. "Republicans have been demanding the administration take the shackles off American energy producers since President Biden took office. We have the energy at home and we must use it."

But the US is already the world's top producer of crude oil, producing about 11.6 million barrels of oil per day as of December -- and that supply is increasing, energy experts told CNN. The country is also the world's largest consumer of oil, using about 21 million barrels per day in 2019 -- 20% of the world's total.

They can drill all they want, but without the 7-8 US pipelines Biden cancelled, it makes little difference.

Alaska is only pumping 500,000 barrels a day thanks to Biden, when they could be doing 2,000,000 a day.

The price of gasoline in Saudi Arabia is $2.18 to $2.30 a gallon. Why is that CNN?

Regulations, permits, lawsuits, Federal taxes, special blends by state and season etc.

“The more supply, the lower the price.”

Not exactly, the market is also about the speculative future prices. If there is a perceived threat to future supply the prices go up.

Not exactly a honed professional on commodities or science and technology of the energy sector. The author writing this as news should be cause to charge CNN with fraud. Like Whoopie Goldberg reporting on Elderly Jewish Heritage.

How long until names are not provided for news stories put out there? The first thing readers of experience to is look up the credentials of the author on the internet. Usually the author has no command whatsoever of what they are pitching as subject matter experts.

CNN used to be better at lying. The quality of their lies has diminished with the change in management. I’m sure with the new Colbert drone they will improve their lying ability shortly.

Better yet, ask the Russians what they currently paying for gasoline per gallon in Moscow and one will immediately know that these mofos are lying out their asses..............!

On the other hand, I think it serves us well to examine their arguments which are often POS, strawman, or use cherry-picked pieces of data.
