I find it odd that Naomi claims to be “not silent” anymore...and then uses “p-—y” instead of “pussy” in her article.
Other than that...great article.
She explains that in the article.
Do we know this is not the work of an editor?
I felt the same way. But I guess everyone has their limits...including her.
For example, I never use the “C” word or the “N” word. But those are my own limits.
She likely understood that saying things a certain way allows those people to simply dismiss her and steer the conversation into the word itself instead of the conceptual subject at hand.
I do this on occasion. An example of this is my occasional discussion of the Communist Chinese murders of their own citizens for political reasons.
Now, depending on who you listen to, the range can be a low of 40 million (which even the ChiComs do not dissent on, and only meet it with silence) to up to 120 million (from sources who have an axe to grind with the Communists)
When I discuss it with people, I will often use the low “40 million” number, which is largely uncontested. I do this, because even though I believe the number to be somewhere between 60-80 million, using the 40 million number simply does not allow the other party to sidetrack me on the detail of 40 million versus 60-80 million.
While that is a difference of up to 40 million human souls, individuals murdered...I think I can get the point across I am trying to make with the lower number.
She probably used the complete word, most likely the magazine editor redacted it….
Point is made either way….
