EVs vs. gas-powered cars: The true FACTS as Biden administration pushes Americans to buy cleaner vehicles

* The average price of an electric vehicle is $56K, $10K higher than the industry average of all cars, according to Kelly Blue Book.

* Based on the average lifespan of a car - 200K miles - the cost to maintain a gas-fueled car would be $94,540, while a EV would be $90,160, according to Car and Driver.

* Electric cars are ‘expected’ to last 300,000 miles while a standard car is 200,000.

* Level 2 chargers, which is what buyers usually start with, cost around $2,000 including installation. The federal government offers a tax credit of between $2,500 and $7,500 for new electric vehicles made after 2010. >> But none of these credits are available for Tesla and General motors.

* In 2020, a Consumer Reports study said electric vehicle owners spend 60% less on fuel than those who use a combustible engine. This is based on charging 11 times every 15K miles for a car with a range of 200 miles.

* The average monthly cost of charging is $25, and it can take 30 minutes to charge an EV, even with the higher-standard Level 3 chargers.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO INSTALL AN EV CHARGER?

Read it and weep.

This doesn't even address charging time issues, especially in terms of convenience and productivity.

Hmmm… 11 X 200 miles = 2,200 miles using formerly taught math skills. Charges that get you 2,200 miles will not get you 15,000 miles. So SOMETHING is wrong with their cost calculations/comparisons.

200,000 miles….not if you take care of it….I have a 2010 Ford Expedition with 326,000 miles….my daily driver…..also have a 2002 Ford F-350 Diesel with 355,000 miles….still runs like a beast

I read somewhere if everybody had electric cars there is not enough power on the grid to charge the cars. We can expect the cost of power to go up as the cost of oil goes up.

Arguing about EVs is playing by their rules. Simply dismiss the argument and say it is time to get rid of democrats and liberals.

What is the source of the power used to charge the EVs? Is it oil or gas? Can our reliance on oil or gas ever be fully eliminated?

Interesting facts. I paid $300 for a portable level 2 charger that I plug into a 220 outlet in the garage. My concern is what is going to fuel the power plants that produce the electricity when everyone is driving electric cars?
