My parents, the neighbors, relatives-as well as the politicians we saw on TV and read about were all joking about that stuff when I was a kid-late 50’s-60’s-Cold War, Cuban Crisis, absolute and real nuke threat-we lived in a rural area, and schools still did nuke drills-get under the desk, away from windows, etc-but if you can’t joke about everything, what is the point? You might as well clutch your pearls, run to the basement and wait for death in abject fear-no, thanks-I’d rather have a leader joking about it, unafraid-joking or not, Putin was obviously deterred by pres Trump-he only has contempt for that fool Biden. “Es mejor morir de pie que vivir de rodillas”...
I hear you — I like a good joke as much as anyone — but ol’ Pooty-Poot’s pretty unstable right now on the International Stage, and he could go off. Hope not. Hope he gets his ass beat in Ukraine.
I was a kid in the 50s and began growing-up in the 60s, and well remember “Duck and Cover” and the Nike Missile Bases near our town, in Arlington Hts, IL. If wacko Pooty-Poot launch some of his 6,000+ missiles, we and Europe would retaliate, and it’d be a very different world, if a world at all. Supplying Ukraine and staying directly out of this, is paramount.
