Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk called on the United States to increase its domestic oil output in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while also acknowledging that his electric car company would be negatively affected by that move.
"Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately," Musk tweeted Friday. "Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures."

I think Musk is vying for the spot where Trump lives in their heads.
love Musk
Musk is a VERY interesting guy.
His Starlink satellite system is coming in handy for the Ukes.
“Elon Musk calls for increase in US oil, gas production to combat Russia”
That’s something that both the Bidenistas and Putinistas here can at least agree on. One other zero-risk thing we could do is GREATLY increase military spending, as even Germany has now figured out that it’s IDIOTIC to confront a world power when you’re at your weakest. One other option, but with some risk, is to do the same as Ukraine in our backyard, starting with liberating Cuba.
I blame Joe Rogan....
I have no desire to ever own any EV. I am retired military and, an MSEE.
That said, I have much admiration for Elon Musk. He is not Politically Correct. He has a love for America and Capitalism.
And, like President Donald Trump he’s not afraid of Bucking the System and calling it like he sees it.
This is the type of man this country was founded with and in today’s world desperately needs.
The best part is, for years Leftists assumed Elon was one of them because of his EV’s.
Now after years of idolatry, they are beside themselves confronting the fact the man is NOT a Leftist but, an Entrepreneur and Visionary who is not on the Socialist bandwagon at all.
Musk realizes he can’t get his businesses to where he wants them without fossil fuels. That’s not hypocrisy, just acknowledging reality. Building a self-sustaining solar-based system must first be built & kickstarted with non-renewables. Revamping the whole _country_ for “green energy” can’t happen if hobbled by outrageous gas/oil prices.
Reminder: oil hit NEGATIVE $38/barrel under Trump - so much production they had to pay people to take it. That makes it cheap to build solar farms, EV factories, and power rockets.
Elon is a is smart. He know electric cars are a niche right now and the word runs on oil and will do so for the foreseeable future. He knows these high prices will hurt the US, but it is clear the Dementia patient in the WH is just following a script.
Beginning to like this guy!
Musk keeps sounder righteous. Maybe he doing the Churchill tranformation.
“If you’re not a liberal at 20 you have no heart, and if you’re not a conservative by 40 you have no brain.”
“ That’s something that both the Bidenistas and Putinistas here can at least agree on”
I am pretty sure there are no Bidenistas here, not counting lurkers.
As others have said, Drill Baby Drill.
I dislike e-cars, e-batteries …. I like Elon. He is on target more than he is off. The truth is the truth. Make $ on the edges all you can but the truth is the truth. We need oil and gas. Biden sucks big donkey Dicks. We need all energy on deck for this global war on humans.
“Reminder: oil hit NEGATIVE $38/barrel under Trump”
Craziest trading I’ve ever witnessed in oil. I’d guess the weighed average price during the closing period was naybe $15 so people were getting paid $15,000 to take 1000 barrels of crude.
Apparently the only multi billionaire who can do basic math. So many of them think reality doesn’t apply to them.
Sony & Honda teaming up on EV’s. Might work. I’m saying we might have to turn to them-market conditions. Fine by me. Biggest win for us. Doesn’t matter who gets the credit. Heard it somewhere.
Owning an EV wouldn’t be a bad thing at all, IMHO. An electric motor is more reliable than an internal combustion engine. It has a flat torque curve. The only car production car capable of near-motorcycle like acceleration is the Tesla Plaid.
However until there is a better way to store electricity, charge quickly, and lower vehicle costs you are right. We need a battery revolution for this to happen. And about Elon Musk you are also right, he is his own man. Not a typical billionaire.
