Mariupol, a key port city in southern Ukraine, has been under siege for days, leaving civilian areas burning and destroyed, according to video verified by The New York Times and interviews with residents.
Images have emerged only sporadically because of power and cellular network outages in the city. Mikhail Vershinin, head of the Donetsk Regional Patrol Police, told The Times that once residents had restored their connections, he expected “horrible footage” to flood the internet. He described the situation as being on “the brink of a humanitarian disaster.”

If the Russians manage to conquer Ukraine, the occupation of the conquered territory will be almost impossible. The Ukrainians will have a virulent hatred for those who wrecked their country and for many generations.
That's pretty biased spin you have there. The ongoing civil war was started by Russian speaking separatists. Blaming the government of Ukraine for fighting against separatists is like blaming Lincoln for the civil way in the USA.
You claim that the Azov battalion is responsible for that war. That's not true, but why are you claiming that a small group of around 1000 neo-nazi idiots supposedly held off the entire separatist army and their Russian allies? Do you think they are supermen or something??

How does being a descendant of the sole survivor of the genocide against his family by the Nazis, and a man who fought against the Nazis make Zelensky "a criminal with murderous cohorts" based on the Holocaust in the Ukraine?

Miserare left out an important part of the story. President Zelensky is Jewish, and the descendant of a man who fought the Nazis in WW2 and lost all of his brothers to the Holocaust.
In WW2 Ukrainians fought against the Russians who had enslaved them earlier in the century, and killed Ukrainians by the millions. The first major European genocide of the 1900s was Stalin's murder of millions of Ukrainians in 1932.
In WW2 Ukrainians also fought against the Nazis as members of the Red Army. Many, many Ukrainians were killed in WW2 with entire villages massacred. The war was particularly bad for Ukraine since they ended up fighting two enemies, and each other.

The separatists took over a section of Ukraine with Russian assistance. Fighting between the Ukrainian government and the rebels has gone on for some time. In 2014 the Ukrainian government recovered most of the area taken by the separatists, but then Russian troops entered the fighting and by the fall of 2014 they recaptured a lot of terrain with the separatists.
A cease fire was negotiated and until recently both sides faced each other across a line of contact. Both sides periodically fired at each other. International monitors tracked artillery, mortar, and rocket launches across the cease fire line.
The Russians use the claim of Nazis the same way Nancy Pelosi and Justin Trudeau use "Nazis" and "White Supremacists" to characterize their opponents. The Azov brigade exists, but it is a very small part of the whole picture, and the vast majority of Ukrainian military members have nothing to do with them.

They already have a hatred for Russians from the mass starvation inflicted on them in the 1930s by Stalin who tried to subjugate them by collectivizing their small farms. More than 3 million were deliberately starved to death.

My dear husband’s ancestors were Jews from L’vov, back when it was part of Russia.
We can’t know God’s purpose but the Biblical end time prophecy does speak of a time when the beast (most likely Russia) is allowed to punish the whore of Babylon (most likely ??? but this seems to fit) for a time, then both are somehow taken out of the way to prepare the way for the Kingdom.
This may explain why there is such an intermingling of good and evil on both sides of the global struggles in modern times as opposed to the somewhat less ambiguous situation of the second world war, albeit we had to make common cause with a great evil to defeat two even greater ones.
But that aside, I cannot see much justification for destroying an entire country for (a) the sins of the past already widely condemned, and (b) the sins of the present committed by a relatively small minority.
If we thought this was appropriate then what is to be our own fate? We have a few neo-Nazis in our countries, and we did bad things in the past too. Who didn’t?
