If the intent was to cut off power, take out the lines leading out from the plant. Could be done miles (or KM) away. Pick your spots - less risk to your own troops, too.

If you wanted to control a power plant, would you knock down power lines that may take a week or more to repair (especially if more than one wire tower is destroyed) or simply gain control of the switch boxes?
I would try the latter first.
