PUTIN made the threat and it's not even new. The difference is that before his aggressions were smaller scale.
He did, and has for years.
Now the narrative here (in the US) went from “He is joking” to “Nuclear war is good for the environment!”
Sort of like how covid went away, and no one is noticing that.
Though I expect similar lock downs in six weeks or so, but for other reasons.
