ST. LOUIS (AP) — A U.S. Senate candidate for Missouri says she has no plans to delete a transphobic tweet that violated Twitter’s rules against hateful conduct, even after the social media platform said she won’t be able to tweet, retweet, follow or like posts until she does.
Twitter suspended [Republican] Vicky Hartzler ’s personal account on Monday.
Hartzler’s tweet, posted in mid-February, said: “Women’s sports are for women, not men pretending to be women,” and included her TV ad targeting transgender people in sports and particularly University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas.
A statement from Hartzler’s campaign called the suspension “shameful, utterly ridiculous, and a horrible abuse of censorship by big tech giants to stifle free speech.” The campaign said Hartzler will not delete the tweet.

Pure sexism
A woman’s issue. She’s standing up for other women who won’t.
how is this phobic in anyway?
Bravo for your stand, and NEVER apologize to the enemy, Ms. Hartzler!
It’s all about the party affiliation, nothing else
I’m still #202,589 on Truth Social.
Alas.
Follow the science,,, that should be the message to all those that support this perversion.
Truth is now “hateful conduct”.
Could this potentially make the WNBA worth watching? /s
And I’m supposed to worry about Putin taking our freedoms away.
I’d say we’re getting to the point where there are no more freedoms to take away.
If these weirdos want to compete in sports then should have their own league. Like The National Association of Sickos.
Twitter needs to be seized and broken up into a million pieces.
They have become active political players—need to suffer active political consequences.
The term “hate speech” should be reserved for speech that explicitly advocates for violence. But as we all know, the term is now used for any speech that deviates from PC thought, even slightly.
And to make things even worse, what is an innocent comment today can easily become hate speech tomorrow. So it’s kinda like living in Brezhnev’s Soviet Union. You won’t be shot for going against party policy. But you will suffer for it.
That’s election meddling.
Twitter has federal protection that it’s a public platform, and not a private editor that can censor.
So it’s free speech zone. The fact they are trying to censor political opinions they do not like by calling it hate is a violation of their agreement.
That’s not a transphobic statement
Sounds like an In-Kind contribution to her opponent(s) by a corporate entity, certainly ILLEGAL if they don’t silence her opponent(s) too.
“In a time of Universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” - George Orwell
Vicky Hartzler is absolutely right. I hope she doesn’t cave in and apologize. It sounds like she’s sticking to her guns so far.
Twitter sucks.
That abusive action by Twitter should give the good lady from Missouri a victory in November.
