We’ve seen how competent the Russian army is.
I don’t think NATO needs to fear WWW3.
I wouldnt want to be on the east coast these days.
And our government is being run by a group who think the leaders of other countries are like comic book villains. But they're not that simple. And even when a guy like Putin has gone a little bit extreme, he's still subject to pressure that can make him worse or make him stop. Same with Xi. If there is one person who will start World War III unwittingly, it is Ron Klain. He is the most dangerous man in the world right now because of what he doesn't know, but thinks he does.
Oh good grief - how are the two related?
Unbelievable.
Re: 34 - Another mindless comment. Get back down in the basement.
“I wouldnt want to be on the east coast these days.”
Would not have anything to do with Poseidon would it?
I must wonder if that is fully developed now. If so, I would not want to live in any major coastal city.
[The only real way Germany can hurt Russia is to stop buying their gas. In December 2021 Russian pipeline gas accounted for 32% of German gas.]
That’s coming sooner than most people realize.
I’m thinking it’s time to renew my passport just in case.
It’s a joke. Maybe I should have used /S at the end of the post to let people who have no sense of humor know what they’re reading.
The bellicose bimbo from Belarus can easily be added the to the SWIFT, airline economic sanctions without too much trouble.
Ah, my apologies.
I do have a sense of humor, it is somewhat misplaced, so I am looking for it.
Yawn.
Putin doesn’t directly control Russia’s nukes. Orders have to be given, and someone in the chain of command would say “no,” or (more likely) the armed forces would move Putin to a rubber room.
Putin made a veiled threat that could be interpreted as a nuclear threat but without saying “nuclear”. France’s foreign minister Le Drian then makes a threat mentioning “nuclear”. Now Putin puts Russia’s nuclear forces on alert. And so it goes....
Thanks for the additional info.
.
Well now! Something has really flipped and galvanized the Germans. That’s an over doubling of Germany’s defense budget. Close to 3% of GDP for this year (to get them through the crisis, I suppose), and then over 2% thereafter. I’d like to see all Euro NATO countries go to 3% until Russia crumbles, or at least until Russia cries “Uncle”.
Then they need to spend an equal amount to procure secure energy sources. Restarting their nuke plants (if they’ve not yet been torn down) would be a start.
I suspect it’s what the Germans are willing or unwilling to do that matters most. They are at enormous risk from Russia turning off the gas, and yet they have really stepped it up with the weapons deliveries. I don’t know if that’s because they are PO’d that Putin double crossed them or if it’s lingering post WW2 guilt. Maybe both.
Related note: The “Allies” have roughly 70,000 Stinger missiles in inventory. Additional to US production, both Turkey (their own version, I believe?) and Germany manufacture them. I don’t know what present German production capability is, but, I’d never underestimate German productivity and the ability to ramp it up, esp. if on a wartime footing. If Pooty persists, he’s gonna be darn short on helicopters.
Lukashenko needs to be nailed to the wall, now. Sanction him and Belarus even harder than Putin and Russia. Internal forment. NATO troops in big numbers on HIS border. See how he likes it. But, give him the option to withdraw now and end support to the Russians attacking Kiev from the North, and all sanctions / actions on Belarus will be ended immediately, NATO will cover him if he asks.
When the Russians north of Kiev run out of fuel, Ukraine will have 20-30 thousand Russian prisoners to negotiate with. Don’t ask me who’s gonna feed them.
If Luka does down, Putin will soon follow.
