Why Putin's '£15BILLION-a-day' invasion is NOT going to plan: As Ukrainian forces OBLITERATE enemy convoy, Estonia's ex-defence chief says Russia will run out of money, weapons and resources if Kyiv hold out for 10 days

Vladimir Putin’s war with Ukraine is not going to plan due to Kremlin ‘overconfidence’, poor tactical planning, and ‘shock’ at the fierce resistance put up by brave Ukrainians fighting for national survival, intelligence sources have claimed.

Dramatic video shows a destroyed Russian convoy with Z-markings near Kherson in the south of the country on the third day of fighting after Ukraine’s army held control of Kyiv and last night successfully repelled Russian advances on the capital.

Kyiv’s defence ministry has so far put Russia’s losses at around 2,800 troops, 80 tanks, 516 armoured vehicles, and 10 airplanes and seven helicopters so far.

‘overconfidence’, poor tactical planning, and ‘shock’ at the fierce resistance

Could have used the same exact words in the winter of 1939/1940.

The reports are Putin has only committed 1/3 of the 200 K troops in the campaign so far. What arrogance to think the equivalent of 4 NATO divisions could take a country as big, armed, and motivated as Ukraine. I wonder if the use of only 70 K troops is due to the inability of the Russian army to support logistically anything larger. Considering the experience of the Holodomor is seared into the Ukranian conscience, I have no clue why Putin would think Ukraine would collapse. He is as delusional as Hitler with the planning of Operation Barbarossa. It is deja vu if you have studied the World War II Eastern Front to see many locations come up again: Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernigov.

It’s Russia v the Globalist. U.S couldn’t defeat Afghanistan so Ukraine could be difficult for Russia. That being said, the article is bunk.

I suspect China will prop Russia up for a while. There is as good chance this is a diversion to tie up resources so China can invade Taiwan.

He continued: ‘Russia’s whole plan relies on panic – that the civilians and armed forces surrender and Zelensky flees.

‘They expect Kharkiv to surrender first so the other cities would follow suit to avoid bloodshed. The Russians are in shock of the fierce resistance they have encountered

It’s still early. It took three weeks for the Americans to take Baghdad. All of this is just fog of war. Made worse with 24 hour media and social media.

It would be interesting if China “supported” Putin with a “wink”, but in reality were setting him up to fail.

I’m sure that when Putin was a child he learned all about how the Soviets crushed the Germans in 1945. But I’ll bet his teacher skipped over how little Finland bogged down the Red Army in 1939-1940.

Soviet Doctrine for an army advance.
#1 reconnaissance in force to determine best axis of advance and enemy defensive tactics.
#2 precede the advance with overwhelming artillery and rocket fire on suspected defensive points and enemy assembly areas.
#3 lead the advance with recon vehicles to draw fire. Use your artillery to obliterate enemy defensive fire positions.
#4 when approaching built up areas destroy the outer buildings with artillery fire ( 2-3 buildings deep). continue fire until mechanized infantry transports are within 100 - 150 meters of objectives when direct fire support from transport vehicles and supporting armor suppresses the enemy while the infantry occupies the area.
They no how to conduct an armored advance against enemies with longer range weapons, and it’s an artillery based advanced.
Of course civilian casualties will go through the roof.
Putin’s content to drive the civilian population out of the battle zone now. Then he will take kiev.

We had no objective in Afghanistan. Hard to win when there’s objective.

The weapons have already been paid for.

The troops might be on higher combat pay which might be $100/week for 200,000 soldiers, or $20 million a week. Russia has foreign reserves of $640 billion I read.

I understand Turkey sent ship to block Russian ships. Ukraine is expressed deep gratitude. Also, France stopped Russian ship loaded with cars saying they did not know if it violated the new economic sanctions.

Yet thanks to Biden’s energy policies Russia are doing just fine and will have plenty of money to sustain a war. The sanctions are too little too late.
