this is a local dispute which will be handled locally. In a historical context, I’m more concerned about Taiwan’s survival than that of Ukraine.

Its not a border dispute, its an invasion by Putin, which will encourage China to act in Taiwan.

I hope Taiwan is OK, as a democracy and our former allies in WWII.

As a Catholic I hope Ukraine is OK; I don’t believe the impacted areas are “Catholic” (which is part of the issue here). I care nothing for the Ukraine’s government, or my own for that matter; no reason to trust either of them.
