W.C. Fields lost his trust in banks when he lost his money after when his bank failed during the Depression. After that he spread his bank deposits around in MANY banks. I remember reading about that.
He opened at least one bank account in every town he visited while in vaudeville, so he always had some money available no matter where he was. And every account he opened was under a different name. And most of the names were nonsensical. I remember reading about all of that in one of his biographies I read while I was in grade school. Some things just stick with you.
