Very little, and it’s not by accident.

Actually an immense amount, and the fact you think otherwise shows that you've fallen for Chinese Communist propaganda. China has spent at least the last two years spreading misinformation designed to try and split the United States from Australia, and unfortunately it seems to be working. Americans have been spoonfed an inaccurate and biased narrative about Australia and too many of you have just swallowed it.

There have been some genuine issues in some parts of Australia - but they've been exaggerated on both social media, and in parts of the mainstream media to make them look like they are the norm in Australia rather than exceptions. In particular the actions of the socialist Premier of the state of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, who is basically a Chinese puppet (he tried to sign his state up to China's "Belt and Road" infrastructure program before the Australian federal government stepped in to stop him) have been presented overseas, especially in America, as if they are Australia wide, and being enacted by the conservative federal government, rather than by his socialist government in one state. Unfortunately (but understandably) most Americans don't have a good understanding of either the complexities of Australia's geography or of its constitution - in many ways, Australia is eight separate semi-sovereign nations, and the state governments have more power than the federal government over any area that the federal government doesn't specifically have power over in the constitution. Of particular relevance is that state governments have control over all matters concerning 'public health', and the federal government (properly called the Commonwealth government) has no constitutional power to overrule them in this area. This has allowed state governments, particularly those of Victoria and Western Australia (both of which have socialist governments) to impose ridiculous and harsh restrictions on people in those states, out of all proportion to any threat posed by COVID (Victoria locked down its own capital city of Melbourne for over 250 days, Western Australia closed its borders for over 700 days, so far - they say they are about to open them again, but they also said that a month ago, so who knows...) and the Commonwealth government had no power to stop them constitutionally. But most of the country has never experienced long lockdowns, and in most of the country, for most of the pandemic, things have remained fairly normal - it's only a few places where real serious problems happened.

In a very real sense, looking at Australia based on what a state government does, would be like labelling all of America left wing, based on what California does.

Great post. I always think of California and almost every coastal state as prime examples of the dire need for the electoral college. The nasty dem California cities run and ruin the entire state. States are Pure mobocracies., in the wrong hands.
