My personal economy matters most to me.

Under Biden, it is deteriorating at a record rate.

My political subgroup of retired people under age 65 is very numerous.

Too late. The Gov’t is in a catch-22. Raise rates “enough” to cool inflation and your national debt payments eat way into discretionary spending.

What to do? Cut Programs/Spending? Not going to happen. More money will be borrowed, more printing will be done, exacerbating the problem.

It might be better if it crashes on their watch. After 22, they’ll blame it on the Republican House.

Evidence of defective Democratic economic policies can be found at every Walmart in the USA.

--- "would be even worse were it not for...."

Stepping back from the surface noise of the article, it is interesting to notice that the sophistry, as above, appearing everywhere on the Left and the ardent proponents of the state.

Consider: Covid deaths "would be even worse were it not for" the experimental mRNA injections, shielded from legal liability.

Consider: Inflation "would be even worse were it not for" the inflationary expansion of the money supply and profligate spending.

Consider: Racism "would be even worse were it not for" race-based policies.

Consider: Climate change "would be even worse were it not for" the carbon credits schemes and more.

Consider: White supremacy "would be even worse were it not for" if not for the very white Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and so many very white Democrat governors and such.

Sophistry all, for no one can know what cannot be either known or tested. Assertions can never be their own proofs.

Plenty of ignorant SOB’s out there that think FDR actually helped the economy too. If anything he prolonged the misery, and lucked out with a world war so he could feel good about the crazy spending (that was necessary).

Having people from academics in government is a big mistake and should be the rare exception - not the rule (as it is with Democrat appointees).

Would you want your home built by a brick layer who had never actually built anything, but had studied and published on the silicates in different types of brick?

It’s the death of FDR - and the undoing of a lot of his idiotic policies - that ended the depression.

“Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has admitted soaring US inflation is ‘not acceptable’ - then insisted the American economy would be even worse were it not for the very spending by the Biden administration that has been blamed for soaring prices. “

yes, janet, that massive conflagration would have been so much worse if those firemen hadn’t dumped those thousands of gallons of gasoline on it instead of water ...
