Announcing that “enforcement is underway,” Ottawa police tweeted just before 2 p.m. Sunday that anyone who attempts to bring “material” supports, including gas, to demonstrators could be subject to arrest.
When asked earlier about the possibility of cutting off the supply of gas, diesel and propane to protestors, Ottawa Police Service said that they do not speak about operations, “for officer safety reasons.”

Amen!
That is an astute observation.
The government is obviously trying to intimidate the people who are supplying the truckers by threatening them with arrest. They are banking on the fact that the supporters will become frightened at the prospect (of arrest) and go home.
However, if thousands of people continue to show up with fuel and sandwiches and not fear a night in jail, there will simply not be enough jail space to house them all. Outside of a Tiananmen Square type massacre, the people have the power here and will prevail if they have the fortitude to go to jail for their beliefs.
This kind of civil disobedience is what drove the civil rights movement. If people were afraid to go to jail and so stayed in the back of the bus (so to speak), nothing would have changed back then.
Lil’ Justin sure likes to play dress-up, doesn’t he?
Laws are for us … not them.

God bless Cpl Bulford.
Well, look what they did when people tried to bring Terry Shiavo some water.
Same deal with Indian independence.
Of course, this only works against an authority with a conscience. Try that Satyagraha stuff on Nazis or Chicoms, and the mass graves will be filled, but not the jails.
The British tried to act like that one time at Amritzar, and as a result, they had to let India go eventually.
So history’s repeating itself. I’m betting that the RCMP have a conscience and are therefore susceptible to satyagraha. Aside from that, doing a Tiananmen Square or Amritzar-style massacre on truckers is a non-starter. The people can take cover behind a truck if they start shooting, and if you hit a gas tank, some RCMPs will likely get hurt.
See Sam Adams’ #82. Back then, there were plenty of people whose attitude towards the freedom riders was the same, and worse.
That sword cuts both ways.
Dictatorships don’t usually last longer than 75 years, though.
Truckers should embargo Ottawa. Refuse to deliver food, fuel, etc.
Let’s see who needs who.
There are non-violent ways with courts and other means.
In Alberta one police roadblock cutting off food and fuel to the truckers on the border led to another blockade nine miles north by truckers, farmers, citizens thousands.
Totally agree. Bulford is an honorable man of conscience that articulated very clear his doubts and his difficult path to seek answers in the laws he swore to uphold before arriving at his final decision. Resigning from his post as part of Trudeau's personal security detail.
Wish that a full transcript becomes available.

this was not part of my life plan that’s
for certain
i uh ironically enough similar to dr
panesi losing her job over
a violation of what she held to be her
ethics
i’m about to lose mine
and my primary responsibility for the
last eight years was supporting
00:16
protection of our prime minister
00:23
the irony is not lost on me and probably
00:24
not lost on him either
00:30
and as a mountie i always felt it was
00:32
very
00:33
important that i know what my legal
00:35
authorities are
00:36
and that police officers should know
00:38
exactly what authority they have to do
00:40
what they do
00:42
so i spent a fair amount of time
00:44
researching the different legislation
00:46
surrounding what we’re currently dealing
00:47
with have uh subsections that detail how
00:49
both are subject to the canadian charter
00:52
of rights and freedoms
00:53
and i would like to just read the
00:55
paragraph three of the emergencies act
00:57
to you
00:58
whereas the governor and council and
00:59
taking such special temporary measure
01:01
measures would be subject to the
01:03
canadian charter of rights and freedoms
01:04
and the canadian bill of rights and must
01:06
have regard to the international
01:07
covenant on civil and political rights
01:09
particularly with respect to those
01:11
fundamental rights that are not to be
01:13
limited or abridged even in a national
01:16
emergency
01:17
i recently heard doc um former premier
01:19
of newfoundland ryan peckford
01:22
say very clearly that they have failed
01:25
to demonstrably justify their
01:27
infringements on our fundamental freedom
01:29
there’s many but i’ll hit on the key
01:31
ones that i think are
01:32
germane to the current situation
01:35
our mobility rates where every citizen
01:37
has the right to enter remain in and
01:39
leave canada
01:41
our legal rights everyone has the right
01:43
to life liberty and security of person
01:45
and the right not to be deprived thereof
01:47
except in accordance with the principles
01:49
of fundamental justice
01:52
section 8 everyone has the right to be
01:53
secure against unreasonable search or
01:55
seizure
01:56
that’s a big one in the police world
01:58
and when i read that
01:59
i can’t help but think of
02:02
people who are not even law enforcement
02:04
demanding your private medical
02:05
information at the door of a hockey rink
02:07
what legal authority do they have to
02:09
demand that information from you
02:15
i certainly never had any training or
02:17
direction in my law enforcement career
02:19
that indicated to me that i had the
02:21
right to demand that from someone in
02:23
fact if i wanted to get medical
02:24
information from a victim of a crime i
02:26
had to obtain written consent to deliver
02:28
to the hospital
02:29
or i had to obtain it by a warrant
02:31
for a suspect who was
02:34
potentially involved in a serious
02:36
violent crime
02:37
and the criteria to obtain a dna warrant
02:39
which i have done in my career
02:41
is extremely high the criteria
02:45
everyone has the right not to be
02:46
arbitrarily detained or imprisoned
02:49
so when i read about the secure
02:50
isolation facility in north battleford
02:52
saskatchewan
02:54
that was very concerning to me
02:56
detailed about how it is meant for
02:58
people who willfully
03:00
do not abide by their quarantine when
03:03
they are deemed contagious
03:05
but very little detail as
03:09
every individual is equal
03:12
before and under the law
03:18
excuse me
03:28
and has the right to equal protection
03:30
and equal benefit of the law
03:32
without discrimination
03:35
and finally the most important in my
03:37
mind is section 52 where it clearly
03:39
states that the constitution
03:44
i can’t look at you piper
03:50
is the supreme law of canada
03:54
so i’d like to read my oath of office
03:56
that i took 15 years ago
04:01
i daniel beauford
04:02
solemnly swear that i will faithfully
04:04
diligently and impartially execute and
04:05
perform the duties required of me as a
04:07
member of the royal canadian mounted
04:09
police
04:10
and will well and truly obey and perform
04:12
all lawful orders and instructions that
04:15
i receive as such without fear favor or
04:18
affection of or toward any person so
04:20
help me god
04:23
i cannot be compliant or complicit
04:26
with federal policies and provincial
04:27
regulations that i sincerely believe to
04:29
be unlawful by every measure
04:31
it is certainly
04:33
not the case that the official narrative
04:35
has demonstrably justified
04:37
a gigantic overreach into the
04:39
fundamental freedoms of every citizen of
04:40
this country
04:43
the rcmp’s purpose if you can you can
04:45
read this right off of the rcmp website
04:48
from coast to coast to coast
04:50
at the community provincial and
04:51
territorial and federal levels
04:53
we work to prevent crime
04:56
enforce the law
04:58
we know that the supreme law of this
04:59
country is the constitution
05:02
we investigate offenses
05:04
i can’t help but wonder perhaps offenses
05:07
of intimidation to our physicians and
05:09
our scientists
05:11
and knowingly withholding life-saving
05:13
treatment from thousands of canadians
05:16
and millions of people globally
05:20
we are to keep canadians and their
05:21
interests safe and secure
05:24
all canadians
05:25
not just a select few
05:28
we are to assist canadians in emergency
05:30
situations and incidents
05:31
so in the context of the pandemic
05:34
i’ve seen us intimidate and arrest
05:36
canadians as opposed to assisting them
05:38
we’ve all seen videos
05:41
look at our own history
05:43
other stains on canada and the rcmp in
05:45
particular
05:46
things that we have been a part of
05:48
carrying out
05:49
so-called lawful orders
05:55
orders to remove children
05:57
from their homes
05:59
to satisfy a government conformity
06:01
initiative
06:03
or the registration and internment of
06:04
japanese canadians during world war ii
06:09
we’re not immune to the stains of
06:10
history
06:13
and i fear we may be repeating past
06:15
mistakes
06:16
in our open letter under the heading
06:18
call to action to commissioner lucky we
06:21
have asked her to direct investigators
06:22
to determine if any criminal acts have
06:24
been committed in the dissemination of
06:26
information from federal and provincial
06:28
health
06:29
authorities or public figures in
06:30
positions of trust
06:31
thereby putting canadian lives at risk
06:35
to expand on that i’d like to talk to
06:36
you about some key points that i
06:38
recently reviewed from
06:40
commissioner lucky’s mandate letter that
06:41
she received from minister goodale
06:43
paragraph one the rcmp is responsible to
06:46
keep canadians safe and safeguard
06:47
canadians rights and freedoms in an open
06:49
inclusive and democratic society and
06:52
it’s quoted i want to be clear
06:55
the government of canada recognizes and
06:57
respects police independence
06:59
of the rcmp in
07:00
exercise of police powers and criminal
07:03
investigations paragraph 10
07:05
at best
07:06
the rcmp at their best pardon me at
07:08
their best the rcmp embodies what canada
07:14
and canadians aspire to be
07:18
upstanding loyal
07:20
and committed to the pursuit of justice
07:23
how can we pursue justice without fully
07:25
understanding both sides of this
07:27
argument with a complete censorship and
07:29
suppression
07:30
of bullseye of one side of this argument
07:33
on loyalty i would say this
07:36
we must not confuse dissent with
07:37
disloyalty
07:39
we must remember always that accusation
07:41
is not proof and that conviction depends
07:43
upon evidence and due process of law
07:46
we will not walk in fear one of another
07:49
we will not be driven by fear into an
07:50
age of unreason
07:52
if we dig deep in our history and
07:54
doctrine and remember that we are not
07:55
descended
07:56
from fearful people
07:58
not from people who fear to write speak
08:00
associate and defend causes that were
08:02
for the moment unpopular that’s edward
08:05
r moreau
08:07
i feel that we have detracted so far
08:09
from the values
08:11
and culture that form the core identity
08:14
of what it means to be a canadian
08:16
that belief in ourselves that we are a
08:18
humble welcoming fair and compassionate
08:20
people
08:22
when i reflect on these past months i
08:24
even recognize that same failure in
08:25
myself
08:27
we are divided
08:29
with both sides angry and fearful of
08:30
each other
08:31
and how much worse this will get
08:34
our language has been used to divide
08:35
canada into an us versus them mindset
08:38
the responsible versus the irresponsible
08:40
the anti-vaxxers versus the sheep we
08:42
cannot continue to allow this decline
08:44
toward a further divided increasingly
08:46
authoritarian state
08:48
we need to communicate honestly and
08:50
courageously
08:53
to make our perspective heard so that
08:54
others may be given the opportunity to
08:56
understand
08:58
if others have not sought out both sides
09:00
of the argument it’s no wonder they
09:01
think and believe what they do
09:04
it is time to be strong in mind
09:06
and body and in character
09:09
it will require sacrifice and
09:11
preparation
09:13
the sacrifice will be of the comfort and
09:16
the security that can be found in
09:17
remaining silent
09:20
it’s difficult to have discussions with
09:22
people who disagree on such a
09:23
contentious issue
09:25
but that’s a good place to start
09:28
courage takes practice
09:32
if you’re actively exercising peaceful
09:33
non-compliance go with a group if
09:35
possible
09:36
there is strength in numbers
09:39
it will be hard
09:40
and awkward
09:42
and very uncomfortable at times
09:44
however if we continue to allow
09:47
this unchecked by our silence and
09:49
compliance
09:50
then the failure to effect change is on
09:52
our shoulders
09:55
we can live up to the anthem the true
09:57
north strong and free
10:00
i have drawn my line in the sand
10:02
no more silence and compliance for me
10:08
life will not be the normal of before
10:11
relationships and careers will be
10:13
sacrificed
10:15
but we will learn who we can rely on
No, we’re the ones who took Vimy, we’re not allowing that. We’re beyond pissed off.
As for those who think its OK to block streets when "our" side does it, but opposes it when "their" side does it, well what can you say, this place gets more pathetic each year.
Could you translate that?
Who are “we” and what is “Vimy”?
