In 1775 the Continental army moved north from Ticonderoga and captured Montreal. They moved up the St. Lawrence. Benedick Arnold’s force left from MA and took a more difficult route up through Maine. They attacked Quebec City from two fronts but the British forces held. Eventually the Americans retreated.
Then in the war of 1812 General Hull, but again the British forces with help of Tecumseh repelled them and advanced taking Detroit.
