Clarification: he took that job after East Germany was East Germany. In other words it wasn’t that he always worked there
IIRC, he was a pastor.
But believe it or not, he went to the GDR from West Germany in the early fifties to bwork as a - wait for it - pastor, in an absolutely atheist country.
Still, his daughter was allowed to go to university there, a privilege afforded only to the children of those who would toe the party line 100 per cent.
You really can bet your head that she is a Commie through and through :-(
