Richard Leigh is not a household name, but he did write a song, that became a huge hit. The song though is not what you think. Crystal Gayle turned it into a beautiful song, a woman pining for a lost love.
That was not what Mr. Leigh had in mind.
The song was written as a tribute to his long-time best friend, his dog, who in his older years developed cataracts, which turned his brown eyes blue:
