Very little point. They almost never have any assets, or more accurately, legal ones, that can be attached, and the officers have to pay their own legal fees to bring a suit for their injuries. The departments might be able to bring a subrogation claim for paying for the officers’ care, but in the current political environment, forget it, and again there is the massive collection problem.
