I did the same thing. Retired at 62. Stayed home and did not much for a while. I got bored and went and got my CDL and drove school bus for the last 5 years. What a hoot. It is funner than I expected. Oh, the stories I could tell.
My sister drove school bus.....was known as the only bus driver to show up wearing high heels....and she did just that. She was also an airplane pilot, worked with special needs adults, drove 16 wheelers and dispatched. Skied and traveled out west because she loved it there. Began working at 14 yrs. old and never stopped.
I lost her in August but at her memorial it was said few realized what a full and productive life she lived. ...and that was true.
hough she never had any children the kids on her bus knew and loved her well....she had stories to tell also. She loved her route and the kids.
