Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has announced that Zagreb will withdraw its troops from NATO contingents stationed in the region if the situation escalates into a full-scale conflict.
Speaking in a televised address on Tuesday, the leader said he saw “reports that NATO – not a separate state, not the United States – is increasing its presence and sending reconnaissance ships.”
He insisted that the Zagreb authorities “have nothing to do with it and we won’t have anything to do with it, I guarantee that.”
“Not only will we not send the army, but if there is an escalation, we will call back to the last Croatian military,” he added. said Milanovic. “It has nothing to do with Ukraine or Russia, it has to do with the dynamics of American domestic politics, [US President] Joe Biden and his administration, which I supported.

It’s all fun and games until someone shoots an archduke.
If Russia going up to the Ukraine border is an offensive act…then so is NATO going up to the Russian border.
Ukraine is Putin’s red line.
Has been for decades.
“Ukraine has told the Biden neocons to stop with the war-talk”
My remote co-worker who is in Ukraine, told me they are shot at how western media is talking this up.
They did not think Russia would invade a week ago, but now because of the war-talk they think this could trigger the war.
You’re aware that piss ant country has no obligations to join in a war over a non NATO country?
He just old-man yelled at Milanovic "You stupid son of a b*tch, we have f-15s, nukes! We can go to war with you, too."
The Coatian MP to the European Parliament has been quite outspoken in his rejection of the lockdown politics of COVID, the dangerous injections and the push to digitalize people’s IDs and access to the internet. In fact, he spoke directly to Macron’s face in Parliament saying that if people die after receiving a COVID19 vaccination, it’s still murder!
I think Milanovic believes Ukraine is a convenient cover for the EU, UK and the USA for their disastrous mishandling and corruption regarding the pandemic.
NATO should be downgraded to a "friendship" agreement, if there's a such thing at all.
Then E.U. can develop a rapid reaction army to defends its border and stand up to increasingly assertive Russia because Americans are going to stay in its backyard this time.
NATO is a JOKE. Its a huge bureaucracy, about as nimble, united and effective as the United Nations. AND they now have 33 "trip wires" set throughout Europe. All the risk and no real security. Sheer stupidity.
In 1991, NATO, if it survived, should have been pared down to Germany, USA, & UK (and maybe France). That's all. Instead, they have created the Detroit department of motor vehicles in Brussels. But maybe that was the globalist intent. IDK.
And yes, we ARE driving a European Russia into the arms of China. More stupidity.
I guess it’s possible that Croatia joined NATO for mutual defense, rather than to be pawns in some Wag The Dog crap.
I understand that, but saying basically you are going to cut and run at the first sigh of conflict is not acting in good faith.
BTW, last time I checked Croatia spends less than 2% of their GDP on defense, which is a NATO Treaty Requirement, if you are going to spend less than you should, then at least offer some degree of support and not announce beforehand at the first sign of conflict I’m leaving.
I don’t want war in any manner whatsoever, but we can’t have supposed allies cutting and running before any conflict begins and hope to offer any credible defense.
He's saying, the US is trying to start a war to save it's economy.
I think the story is true, but the context is that the Croatian PM is pro-west, pro-nato, and friendly to Ukraine, and the Croatian President is pro-Russia. They have been in conflict with each other over this situation for a while now.
Ukraine is NOT in NATO
Croatia has no treaty obligation to defend them.
Maybe they could be like France and send 50 soldiers to Romania
I understand that perfectly well, no one expects them to put their entire military on the front lines if a war were to break out, but open say if fighting starts they are going home is not being a good partner in NATO.
Whatever capabilities they have they could be put to good use.
I don’t want war under any circumstance, but I’m not naive enough to believe a war couldn’t break out, given how Biden has been wrong on just about every foreign policy issue in the USA for the last 40 years, I have no confidence Biden is going to get this situation handled correctly, but a war is much more likely if NATO members start running home before anything really happens.
“Or...NATO isn’t supposed to be offensive in nature. I’d say going right up to the Russian border is fairly seen as an offensive move.”
Russia will argue that, but as long as NATO troops stay within NATO countries, it is defensive. Once they cross into non-NATO countries, such as Belarus, or into Russia itself, then it is offensive. Hell, going into non-NATO Ukraine is arguably an offensive move, unless the legitimate government of Ukraine requested it. Even at that, it is a legal question, subject to “interpretation.”
Russia vs Ukraine is not our fight. I have no problem with sending Ukraine weapons and hardware, but I am very much opposed to sending US troops to Ukraine.
The Balkans wasn’t our fight neither, but NATO went there, even though no NATO states were involved. That’s when the Russians got real jittery.
“I guarantee if Croats go into Russia, Serbia will attack Croatia.”
Could be.
Alternatively, Mialnovic may be saying that some Ukrainians with dirt on Bidet & Son have been blackmailing the US: Keep arming and bribing us, or we squeal.
Except nukes have replaced the Maxim gun.
“The Balkans wasn’t our fight neither, but NATO went there, even though no NATO states were involved.”
Yeah, and I was very much opposed to that, as well.
