I’m so old I remember when JFK picked LBJ for VP to defuse the “Catholic Boston liberal” label. George Bush picked Dick Cheney for VP because needed a conservative to “balance the ticket”. And Obama picked Biden to defuse the “too liberal” charge.
VPs aren’t picked because they would make great presidents, which is why many of them never get to the big chair.
But here we are because Democrats have no “bench”.
Well sure. If they want to invoke the 25th to get rid of him, I imagine they wouldn't have a lot of objections. But that's a completely Constitutional course of action. Then Kamala become President, and then there may be a battle over whether or not the Senate confirms her replacement as VP. But none of that is extra-judicial or constitutionally inappropriate.

As you probably know there are serious questions about Harris’ eligibility to be VP much less president, but none of that meant anything to the Dems. They pretty much do whatever they want so we could well be going into uncharted waters with respect to the line of succession.
You can be sure there are Dem strategists working on their options right now. They know they have a big problem and are no doubt looking at ‘novel ways’ to fix it to their advantage. The Constitution be damned.
They also know that the unlikable, unpopular and incompetent Harris stepping in could lead to catastrophic damage to the party. They are not going to let that happen.
Maybe he thought she was a little girl...
Biden’s excuse would be that he is color blind.
I don’t believe there are any serious questions as to Harris’s eligibility. Unserious ones, sure, but I’ve learned to ignore them.<p
In any case, she’s VP now, and the Constitutionally designated successor to Biden unless she resigns or is impeached and convicted.
