No, seriously. One of them basically saved billions of lives. A single moldy cantaloupe from a fruit market in Peoria IL was the primary source for almost all of the first billion or so doses of penicillin distributed in the world. Until that melon was found, by a worker on a lunch break, the sources they had were far too weak for effective widespread use. They needed something 50x stronger for growing sufficient amounts of it, and it was that random cantaloupe that was the only such source found, anywhere on earth. This was basically the start of the entire global pharmaceutical industry.
By the way, no part of that cantaloupe remains, not even a photograph for the history museums... the part that wasn't moldy was eaten by the researchers studying it. LOL
(Ivermectin is another such miracle find... the source for it is from one microorganism from a single soil sample from a field in Japan. Nothing else in the world sufficiently produced the avermectin that becomes ivermectin.)
