What did you take for the Cataracts?

I am a huge natural cures fan.

Please understand that I added my apparent Cataract “cure” on a base of many supplements which I take morning and evening every day. Thus part of the cataract success may be due to valuable interactions of the new additions with some of what I was already taking. My mother and several sisters were already suffering severe vision problems or blindness at my age, but were never doing the suppliment enhancements I began 50 years ago. Currently for basic Covid protection I would recommend a good ionophore, zinc, Vitamins D3 and C, and a good one-daily multi vitamin/mineral morning and evening. Others might have additional recommendations, but those would be a good basic low-cost regimen.

The additions for cataracts were Lutien 20 mg., Astaxanthine 4 mg. and Bilberry (several different formulations) taken both morning and evening for over 2 years. I also saw other possibilities at Google, but was satisfied with the rate of improvement with the above.

For Covid protection, over the past 2 years I have increased my intake of Vitamin D3, and zinc daily, and use Quercetin for a week if I have unusual level of exposure like vaccine or a social occasion.

My interest in health thru supplements began at age 32 when my son was born and suffered severe colic for 9 months. His colic resolved when I started feeding him yoghurt. An antibiotic for Thrush had destroyed his gut bacteria. My mother had vein stripping surgery at age 45 for severe varicosities and open ulcers at her ankles. I began to develop varicosities and could not stand with leg comfort after 8 pm. I also had a scar from birthing causing marital difficulties after a year. Fortunately I found Adelle Davis’ book “Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit.” I immediately started taking 5 to 7 supplements based on her recommendations for varicose vein issues. After one month I could stand until midnight with no pain, and the scar problem disappeared. I also noticed my nickle-sized hard smallpox scar had softened a lot. I was also comfortable with 2 hours less sleep at night. I had studied basic biological sciences in college. I searched for literature on natural healing and read for an hour each night for almost 2 years—over 500 hours. You can still find Ms. Davis’ books on line. Lets Raise Healthy Children, Lets Get Well (more technical), and Lets Cook it Right have all played a role in my life and parenting.

Subsequent diagnosis of allergy to house dust, mold, cigarettes and others led me to higher Vitamin C use and Pantothenic Acid. When I urged my allergic father to take these his annual spring “hay fever” never recurred. A black woman psychologist did an evaluation on my dislexic son. Later she wrote me that we had spoken on the phone for an hour a few years earlier about health learning. She got the books I recommended and said she had already helped at least 80 people with information gained. Another health issue that had resolved was frequent sciatica and back pain. When at age 55 I began to have a recurrence I added boron 3 mg. daily which solved that problem. So over the years as new challenges have presented I have done more research, and found a solution. I have also added some supplements as they became known. YOU CAN DO THE SAME. It doesn’t cost much to buy a bottle of a supplement and try it for a month. Just be sure you check with a sympathetic doctor if you are being treated for something as there can be some negative indications.

The first doctor I asked about this, my gynecologist 51 years ago admitted he did not know much about the subject, but since he was seeing me regularly would be able to warn me if something seemed to not be good. Our basic health problem these days is that Big Pharma has won the treatments battle, and thus our most deadly diseases seem to be in the lifestyle and nutrition arena—diabetes, lung cancer, obesity, heart disease, etc. If I could make one political change, it would be to require that NIH spend a substantial part of it’s basic research funding on use of supplements to treat disease. These days it almost all goes to medicines. I have read that Dr. Fauci controls something like $6 billion a year in research funding, probably mostly all to drugs and vaccines.
