My propane stove saved the day last February here in Central Texas. Ercot cut off the electricity, so the central heat (also propane) couldn’t be used. The stove kept the house above 50 thru the ordeal.

Same. Except we have natural gas here. It held out. Fire and stove.

Heating your home with a gas stove is risky. You really aren’t supposed to do that. And get a carbon monoxide detector.

You can also power your gas or pellet stove’s electric component with a generator. See what wattage your unit requires and pre-wire a safe connection.

The portable catalytic heaters are cleaner burning and made for indoor use. Most of the newer ones shut off if they reduce the ambient oxygen too much.

My sister south of Ft Worth was without electricity last year for about a week. When they got it back they found pipes burst all through the house.
The only heat they had at that time was their fireplace in which they used up all their wood.

It pays to buy a couple of 5 gallon propane tanks and a propane camper stove for cooking.

Two weeks ago in northern Virginia - lost power for a week.....luckily we have a gas (propane converted) stove to cook on.

A friend of mine and I were also joking that at least we don't have electric vehicles.

That is exactly why they do not want that option available. You didn’t freeze to death like they wanted you to.

I lived in my freightliner in North dakota.
Every truck would be running all night long but not mine.
I fixed up a stand and hung my ventless propane stove, cranked my window down a little and slept in peace.
Now Im in arizona and when we lost electricity i just got my stove out and my girl and I stayed toasty in our house

We heat with wood and have hot water courtesy of propane. We have a backup genny to run the well pump.
