Yes a mindless swipe that is still practiced today in government and some churches. It’s just not as open as it used to be.

Consider Las Vegas, BLM, Antifa as opposed to Jan 6th alleged insurrection. Someone is paying indulgences and don’t be so blind to think churches don’t do the same. They do it all the time whether called priests or pastors or mullahs or gurus.

Far be it for mere serfs to be able to afford such forgiveness from governors and popes

Fortunately torturing metaphors isn’t a violation of the Geneva Convention or you’d be before the International Court of Justice at this moment. The reason why your metaphor doesn’t work, to go back to your original post, is that BLM, Antifa, deep staters, and democrat leaders don’t have to do anything like paying money to get their favored treatment. They pretty much don’t even need to ask for favored treatment. Just being a member of one of the protected groups is enough, and the benefit goes to those people whether they have wealth or not
