Interesting. I have a new 3 ton system that is about 3 times more efficient than the one I am replacing sitting out in the barn. I paid $3,100 for it with taxes and delivery. I’ll put it in next week but have to pay someone a few hundred bucks to help me since I’m pushing 70. I just can’t do what I could a few years ago.

I guess I’m insane too.

I just mentioned what my sister-in-law paid to have a COMPLETE new heating and cooling system installed. Where they live in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia they do not let you install it yourself unless you are a licensed contractor with all the permits and certifications required to handle, store and recover refrigerants. That adds a bit along with all the components in addition to the heart of the system. Their system has more than one zone, each with separate components, venting, and accessories. So, I don't know if they got ripped off or not.
