of course the talks collapsed. The Russians were serious in their demands. Their actual red line has been crossed and they feel an existential NATO threat and belligerence towards them.
They made specific terms and set a one month deadline.
DC started their usual BS of “negotiation” technique. Announce a flat refusal of their demands, but send some DC swamp woman who was supposed to prattle on and on, employ a huge array of diplomats from half of NATO, get a huge budget, and “talk” as the DC agenda proceeds without change.
Offer them some meaningless agreement etc.
DC negotiations are basically, “we aren’t changing a single thing, but we can talk you into liking it”.

Russia is tired of a decade plus of insults, and now of the NATO road show moving right up to their borders. Watch for missile deployments to Cuba and Kaliningrad and every location where they can use INF nukes to menace the EU.

In this case I think they were serious, DC was business as usual, and they have caused more of their same BS. Good old State and DOD doing the neocon thing.

Agreed.

First, if you don’t mind, my take on the situation as of early December:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4017950/posts?page=43#43

When whoever is behind the Biden administration kept ratcheting up the hyperbolic “Russia!Russia! Russia is going to invade!” claims and playing those games, I think Putin sought to turn their yawping against them, and demand concessions.

As for the “false flag” claims, maybe the ninnies in Foggy Bottom have been lurking on FR too much. Okay, seriously now, the Russian side and the Ukrainian side have been trading accusations of imminent “false flag operations” since this thing started after Miss Vicki d’s armed putsch, and all such claims demand a spoonfuls of salt.

Of course Russia has operatives working inside Ukraine. Should the Ukrainians launch an attack to take back the Donbass, however, it will be so much bigger and so far beyond any little old “false flag” it will be glaringly obvious. There will be no problem distinguishing between a Russian response to an all-out Ukrainian attack and some false flag operation. So there’s that.

While you are correct, this admin cares nothing about Russia or what they have planned. This admin is one puzzle piece (federal control of elections) away from total power and that is all they care about!
