If I did the conversion right, that's 30 1000mw Nuclear Powerplants. That's 1 1000mw units / 30 states, or if you build 2 on a given site, that's 15 states w/ 2. That's way more Jobs and no Sea-Shore-eye sore and I don't care how far off shore they put them...
It’s worse than that. Companies rate windmills based on power output at a given wind speed. I have checked several manufacturers and typical rated wind speed is 28 to 31 mph. Energy produced is a function of the square of wind speed. So at a wind speed of 15 mph the windmills will produce one quarter of rated power, or at most 7.5 gW.
