So an 85% vaccination rate is not enough? Early on in the scam-demic we were told that right around the 70% to 80% vaccination or infection percentage we would achieve "herd immunity." So what happened? We've surpassed that mark with vaccinations and people recovered from infection. If the vaccines worked even moderately well, this thing would be over.
Omicron is spreading faster through the vaccinated than the un-vaccinated. Although that is probably a good thing. Omicron's symptoms are reported to be about like a mild to moderate cold, or mild flu. The vaccinated obviously don't have any real protection against covid. By getting a mild infection they can hopefully at least acquire some natural immunity.
Hospitals are not overwhelmed due to the un-vaccinated. There are several things at work here and of course the facts are distorted to support the message. Hospitals are not generally overwhelmed. There are more problems due to staffing shortages (exacerbated by firing staff over vax mandates) than anything else. Hospitals are reporting anyone with covid or presumed to be covid positive as a covid patient. If I crashed my motorcycle and was hospitalized with a broken leg - they would report me as an un-vaccinated covid patient.
When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent ... Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, "I can nudge this up a bit," so I went to 80, 85. We need to have some humility here .... We really don’t know what the real number is. I think the real range is somewhere between 70 to 90 percent. But, I'm not going to say 90 percent.-PJ
