Meanwhile, thousands of others - who happen to NOT be famous tennis stars - languish in confinement.

Those “languishing in custody” are doing so after entering the country illegally and falsely claiming refugee status. It’s hard to feel sorry for them. The cruelty of it is that advocates are keeping them there, using the courts to stop their deportation.
As for Djokovic, his only perceived mistake is that he did not get injected with the kool aid, and the sheep who have, are enraged. He’s not part of the flock you see. Sheep good, wolf bad, baa, baa. The prevailing logic in Australia seems to be that “we’ve submitted, so we hate those who haven’t”. Maybe they don’t like being shown up for what they are?There’s not much left of the country I’m afraid.
