Not sure where the author has been but this is nothing new.
2 other points he might want to ponder:
1] Men are disappearing as positive role models. They are portrayed as stupid doofs who like to do laundry and fix food for their DAUGHTERS.
2] Men are relegated to support roles only. Not just in advertising but in movies and songs.
Yesterday I saw an AutoZone commerical where a woman backed her car out of the garage, heard squeaky breaks, goes to AutoZone for new ones and replaces them herself. Personally, I would love to be this independent. But I’m not. It’s beyond me, frankly. And it’s not something 99% of women know or are able to do.
Commercials typically try to attract customers by appealing to their interests and putting that customer base on the screen (for relatability). Toy commercials have kids that are older than the kids who would play with the toys. Mayo and sour cream commercials always have thin people dancing around and moving. Commercials for the elderly always are younger. This won’t attract the AutoZone customer base.
All except for
a) Action movies that MUST have a payday (so you have Daniel Craig, the Rock, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, even Tom Hanks can be manly).
b) Rap music, where males absolutely dominate, and which to my chagrin remains immensely popular.
It appears white liberal ‘elites and their thug pets running ad agencies are afraid of white heterosexual men.
