Quercetin, a natural flavonoid, is found especially apples and onions:

Why should I purchase pills of Quercetin when I grow my own

We have several apple trees of different variety...and grow cabbage, kale and spinach.

Spouse knows plants and herbs so harvests natural growth dandelion and some wild spinach.

Harvested a bag of mushrooms from the forest and will go back to get some more ...fried with onion and garlic with some red peppers....yummy.

Yeah, it's a free country to a degree, so they say. I don;t have these resources, so I buy the certified quercetin preformulated with citrus-free vitamin C.

People generally throw away the part of fruit and vegetables that contain the quercetin anyway. For apples, the major amount is in the skins, and is diminished by processing. Applesauce or pies? Not much in them, the literature indicates.

How many apples do I have to eat every day with the skins on to get the 500 mg of quercetin in the pill I purchase for 11 cents a day? I dunno, but I like to vary my diet a little bit.

I guess I don't see eating as a form of planned self-medication as some folks do.

But thanks for your observations!
