378 times 7days = 2,646. So no mention of any comorbidities, like diabetes, obesity, cancer. But never mind that…there are ~ 73,000,000 people under 18 in the US, which means approximately 0.000036247 were hospitalized, or ~52 per state.

Now, I wouldn’t want any of my grandchildren hospitalized, but this is hyperbole by the AP.

Yes, it did mention the comorbidity of obesity. When is the government going to start talking about the completely unnecessary health hazard of allowing one’s children to become obese?

even though two-thirds had underlying conditions that put them at risk — either chronic lung disease or, more commonly, obesity

According to CDC data 2 children have died from the influenza virus during this year's flu season which started a couple of weeks ago.

Sadly there are many risks to life in this world, and even though they may be miniscule overall each individual case is tragic for the people involved.

Based on what we know now, it is too bad that the people in the scientific community decided to pursue research with dangerous viruses in spite of the risks to everyone of what they were doing. Perhaps some of the doctors speaking up today about the aftermath of letting a dangerous virus escape from a lab should have spoken up sooner.
