“Iran and Russia seem in disagreement about Syria.”

My take too. Syria trying to re-arm the Iranian terrorists who attack Israel, and Russia saying they’ll protect Syria, but Israel is free to take out the terrorists.

I suspect that a lot of the Permanent Cold Warriors here don’t realize that Israel and Russia have a very close relationship, and neither side wants to put that in danger.

(Trivia Fact: Russian is one of the 3 official languages in Israel, English is not)

Syria? What's that? I mean, other than a quagmire for Iran, Russia, and the Assad dynasty?

Iran and Russia are playing on different agendas in the Middle East and they are not always in sync with each other. They both want eastern Mediterranean bases for their own self interests, not so much ‘cause that helps each other. Even propping up Assad is a different long term objective to Russia than to the Mullahs of Tehran. The Mullahs would/will be much quicker to abandon Assad than will Putin. If Israel cuts down the Mullahs’ military in Syria, I don’t think Putin actually objects.
